Craft + Activism = Craftivism
Last week two of our GCM members had the pleasure of attending a workshop delivered by the inspiring Sarah Corbett from the Craftivist Collective, held at the beautifully vintage-themed Cushion & Cake in the West End (best home-made biscuits in the land!)
It was an eye-opening look at crafting for the greater good, effective activism and ultimately, a lesson in slowing down… taking time out and using craft to contemplate and express thoughts on injustice, using it as a tool for self-reflection as well as a gentler kind of campaigning.
The footprint stitching project we all started during the workshop was a lovely way to open up discussion on the paths we walk in life and the imprint we will leave on the world. It was thoughtful, encouraging and beautiful.
Sarah is a wonderful, motivating, speaker and I think after last weeks workshop we’ll definitely be seeing some more craftivist action in Glasgow!
Are you a craftivist? Do you have a story or project to share? We’d love to hear about it and I’m sure the Craftivist Collective would too!

I’m working on a scrapbook in memory of my Dad & it’s a special gift to my Mom. Looking forward to completing it soon!
